In typical ARCS fashion, as soon as the season starts it seems that we get inclement weather!
So perhaps an opportune time to talk about the procedures for fixture rearrangement should we be unlucky enough to have matches rained off.
With the limited number of teams and the competition structure we have in place (the same as last year incidentally), all teams will have one game per week for 6 out of 7 weeks. These game are scheduled Mon-Wed most weeks and therefore most Thursdays are theoretically available for fixture rearrangements. However, your Committee appreciate that arranging teams for more than one game per week is not easy and therefore a dictatorial style of fixture rearrangement from yours truly would go down like the proverbial lead balloon.
Therefore, the Committee have decided that the most pragmatic approach to this is for the Captains of the teams whose game has been rained off should select and agree one of the available 'spare fixtures', and then inform the fixtures secretary (Jim Pettifor) of their selection. Jim will check with Ipswich School, update the fixtures on the website and confirm the change to the Captains concerned. If it proves impossible to agree on a mutually acceptable rearrangement date, the fixture will be cancelled and the game will NOT count towards the averages of teams concerned.
Please also note that games played up until 20th June will be both preliminary games which will decide places in Semi-finals and Finals, and also contribute to final league positions. Therefore any game scheduled up to this date need to be re-played prior to the semi-finals (scheduled for the week beginning 25th June) if that result is to influence the semi-finals pairings. 6th May 2007To avoid clashes with matches at Ipswich School we have changed the venues of some matches. Could captains please check the revised fixture spreadsheet which will be sent out shortly. Some matches will now be on a different pitch at Henley Road, Finals will only be on the Ivry Street pitch where marked. 18th March 2007All 7 teams have confirmed their places in the ARCS competitions for 2007 season, so we will be running the same one League & two Cup competition format as last year, the fixtures will be available in early April for an early May start.
As always, we welcome new players, so if you want to enjoy some social cricket (enthusiasm required, skill or experience optional) just contact one fo the committee or captains and we will gladly introduce you to ARCS cricket with one of our teams.17th September 2006The 2006 AGM and Presentation Evening will take place at the Dove Street Inn, Ipswich at 8:00pm, Mon 18th Sept, all captains & players are welcome to join us as we set the rules & formats for the 2007 season over a pint of ale. 41 - 50 of 57 news items foundPage: Previous 1 2 3 4 5 6 Next
