Clarification on batting points

It was decided at the 1994 Inter-Div Cricket AGM that, because batting points far outweighted bowling points, the rules would be amended so that points would no longer be awarded for batsmen that did not bat.

It has come to the committee's attention that there have been instances of sides batting second and reaching the required runs in less than their allotted 15 overs but still insisting that the full 15 overs be bowled at them to ensure additional batting points are secured.

THIS IS PATENTLY NOT IN THE SPIRIT OF THE COMPETITION AND ADDITIONAL BONUS POINTS SECURED IN THIS WAY CANNOT BE INCLUDED IN ANY FINAL SCORE TOTAL.

WHEN THE NUMBER OF RUNS BEING CHASED HAS BEEN REACHED THE MATCH IS FINISHED.

It is granted that a FEW additional points may be lost but on balance the winning team should secure sufficient points to feel rewarded for their efforts.
